Sarah Palin And The Turkey Video - Give It A Rest Media

Turkeys slaughtered as Palin addresses media, MSNBC screams.
The LA Times screams: Sarah Palin pardons a turkey, misses the slaughter
USA Today bellows: Palin talks turkey while workers slaughter one in the background
It's also been talked "Turkeygate"
They're not alone. Everyone is doing it.
The media hang-up and wild fascination with this Sarah Palin - turkey video is even worse than the turkey "massacre" as some have called it. Everyone, especially MSNBC, seems fascinated with the video. Palin pardons one turkey and does an interview while other turkeys are killed behind her.

The media seems to have this wonderous belief that when the President, or anyone, pardons a token Thanksgiving bird that all birds are suddenly saved. There is suddently joy and peasce among all turkeys because a media photo op was carefully crafted. Wake up folks. This was a bad shot from the videographer. Why would a photographer keep shooting this video?
Was it a set up? Was it more "gatcha journalism"? I've shot local news video before. I would never compose a shot this way. If the actions that were gross and too ugly for TV happened after I started shooting, I would have stopped recording and stopped the interview. Palin is not maliciously killing the turkeys as some in the media want everyone to believe. It's a fact of life. Turkeys die this time of year. Think about that at your Thursday dinner folks! The problem here was not Palin. The problem was that the taping continued of such an event. Not only did tha taping continue... someone in that news operation made the decision to broadcast and further distribute this video. In my opinion... it is a blatant attempt by the media to further tarnish Palin's image. Don't get me wrong... she done a glorified job of that herself (the Katie Couric interview for example).

So... I thought I would check out Alaska TV coverage of the BIG SARAH PALIN TURKEY MASSACRE. If anyone felt she was cold, heartless, odd, unusual, etc... they would be reporting it. Here's the lead story on KTUU at 7pm CT Friday.

It's not even on the home page of the ABC or the CBS stations in Anchorage. Still the national media loves to attack Palin at every single turn possible. Yet the media that covers her state... what she does and does not do... is making far less of it. Perhaps... we all could learn a lesson.
