Jane Velez-Mitchell inherited the 7pm time slot on CNN Headline News recently. I have to admit I haven't watched her much at all before. I didn't recognize her as a talent to "carry a show" that is a lead-in to Nancy Grace. Yes, she has filled in there before. Thanks to TVNewser for pointing this clip out.
After looking at a few others, Mitchell may be just the right thing to lead-in to Grace... vif given more than an "interim" chance. I'm not a fan of opinion journalism... or info-tainment. But, my opinion isn't going to change the massive tided pushing cable news in that direction. So... have at it. Give Jane a chance. I'll make a greater effort to see more of her show soon.
HER PROFILE from CNN.com

Jane I am watching your show tonight December 2, 2008. As a minority woman you are not looking at this situation with the Hudson verses white woman from Arkansas. Judge Pierro even refered to the white woman as a beautiful white woman and the hudson family as just another domestic situation. Then I am listening to you and your words on Plaxico the country wants him to hang. Again the black man, but robert downey jr. and other white people and so of them dont have to be famous just rich and they get away with murder. Shawn was just robbed in his home and killed. Where is your compassion for Plaxico the person. He didnt hurt anyone but himself but yet and still you are finding him guilty before he has been to court. Wow it seems once a minority gets famous they forget reality. Neither one of you once mention that Plaxxico never harmed anyone or pulled the gun on anyone, you all are making him out to be a criminal! Wow I am starting to wonder the purpose of supporting a minority on t.v.. I am not saying that you should be on anyone side but I am saying that you should be a little for bias. Be careful what you say bc you never know when you will need the public to give you or one of your family members the benefit of the doubt. The universe has a way of bringing things back to him. This is racial!
Hi Jane - I started watching your show and really enjoy it. I think you are perfect for this show. I like the way you deal with the lawyers, and any other guests you have on. I was watching your show last night, Monday, 1/5/08, when you discussed Jett Travolta.
My heart goes out to their family. They say that once you loose a child, it is the worse thing that could happen to you. When I heard on your show or Nancy Grace's that people were going after them on Google (for whatever their crazy insane reasons are) it made me absolutely very upset and angry. The internet has become so out of control, and it seems to invite every lunatic or nut case around. I do have a comment on this tradegy. I had grand mal seizures for many years (long time ago), and I was put on pheonbarbital. Every few months, the doctor took blood to determine the blood levels of the medication to see if it was up to par. Quite a few times, my dosage was increased. I never heard of people having Grand Mal Seizures being taken off medication, and not having something added to it, or trying a different medication. e was on depakote, which is also used for other things. For some reason these medications, just like the SSRI's (zoloft, prozac, etc.) loose their effectiveness after some time.
Most doctors add something to the medication or change it. I would like you to find out what type of doctors Jett was seeing, hopefully neurologists, and how long it has been since he stopped taking the medication. They only put him on one medication, and there are a lot of medications that are used for Grand Mal Seizures. I cannot believe in good faith, that any doctor would take him off the Depakote, knowing how sick he was, and not prescribe anything else. It that was the case, I don't even want to tell you what I think. I was going to call last night, but I get very upset about these type of things, and didn't know how I would come off. Since the Church of Scientology, (to me, it sounds sort of like a cult) is against psychiatry, and other things, I wonder if they were involved with the doctors that were treating Jett. Again, my heart goes out to Jett's parents, and I don't even know what to say. I am interested in my questions/concerns being answered. Thanks for listening
Hi, Jane, love your program. Who is the father of Caylee Anthony?? Odd that this has been swept under the carpet by the Anthonys and everyone has accepted their explanation???? Not buying into anything they say. George and Lee should have paternity tests.
Thank you,
g
I agree with anonymous to an extent. I often wonder if Lee could actually be the biological father. Sounds horrible, I know but it does happen. Who knows, maybe the police already have their suspicions too.
Jane: I LOVE you and your show, esp. when you said, tonite, a BIG PROBLEM in this Country is BABIES having BABIES. I couldn't agree more. People bringing UNWANTED Children in to this World, via UNPLANNED pregnancies only to abuse, neglect, then, kill their Children, or, have them grow up, and, do the SAME to OTHERS, as in: Pedophilia.
I DID DISAGREE w You, about your stance on Madonna's adoption, however. I'm glad she was turned down. I think she is a Spoiled, Rich, *ITCH, who seems to get WHATEVER she WANTS, WHEN she WANTS.
The Child she wanted to Adopt, has a GRANDMOTHER in THAT Country. Madonna has ENUFF kids, ALREADY, anyways!
