David Shuster on MSNBC: What An Awkward Morning

I usually start my day at the office by flipping on the TV to monitor CNN or MSNBC at about 7:55 (the time I arrive at the office). This morning, I did just that. As I got settled, I overheard a series of awkward moments from David Shuster on MSNBC. First, Shuster called out his director on-air for a clumsy punch. While it may have been an error, I really hate it when on-air talent scolds the crew while live on air. Take it off-air folks. We the viewers just want the news not the drama.

Then, moments later Tamron Hall made some joke about Halloween... to which Shuster took offense. He basically scolded his co-anchor and all other TV anchors (along with politicians) for engaging in senseless Halloween jokes. I agree it gets silly too often. But, did Shuster really need to call out Hall? She took offense and said something to the effect of "David was that a shot at me? I believe so." Good for her. He made a third wisecrack a short time later. I didn't make a note because, afterall, I was at work. Still, my mental note was something to the effect of "what a diva!"

Five days before election day.. Shuster just seemed bitchy this AM... and it was clear on air! I love anchors who can be having the worst day ever but never show it on-air. I hesitate to think what Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be like. Oh yeah... it was THAT David Shuster.
