The Associated Press is the latest organization to jump on the anti-NBC/MSNBC bandwagon.
The network has emphasized that MSNBC and NBC News are synonymous. The bond was tightened recently when MSNBC moved out of its New Jersey headquarters to Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. Now Olbermann's Countdown and Brian Williams' Nightly News are produced under the same roof. NBC News personalities appear more frequently on MSNBC....
...Research to be released by the Project for Excellence in Journalism will show that people would be hard-pressed to prove that opinionated MSNBC shows spill over in any way to NBC News programs like Today, Rosenstiel said.
Last week it was the New York Times. Now, AP chronicles the NBC News division battle with Hillary Clinton, George Bush and Bill O'Reilly to name there. I don't know why it surprises anyone that NBC News and MSNBC cross polinate. It's a coverage, content and staffing issue that has not changed since MSNBC launched. Suddenly, as everyone is looking for someone to blame, questions arise about whether NBC News is too close to the opinionated content of NBC News. It's nothing new... nothing to see here folks... because there is an alliance that certianly parallels the blurring of the lines of journalism. NBC News is not alone. And NBC is certianly not responsible for where broadcast news is as a whole today.
